We are still not at playoff time for the NHL and NBA. It feels like we have been preparing for the playoffs for over a month! This takes into account my number one theory about these leagues; their seasons are too long!
I personally don't see any reason for the NHL to play until June. I would love to see the season begin in September. Truth is with the way the playoffs are formatted, they will not cut the number of games. But, I do see a possible change to start the season earlier. It makes sense weather-wise, and even with the NBA overlap.
In Toronto, the Raptors have been looking better as of late. The Leafs are sputtering into the playoffs. They better have a switch to flip or they'll be gone in 5 games to Boston.
Toronto FC introduced Alejandro Pozuelo to the field, and it turned out to be one of the most dominant performances ever seen from this team. Pozuelo looked great and made the city forget Sebastian Giovinco. TFC looks good thus far, should be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes.
The Blue Jays keep selling everything in sight. There's a massive for sale at Rogers Centre right now. Kevin Pillar was the latest item sold, and it felt like the right time for this team to let him go. This will be happening for all the veterans and potential pieces that will not be here in the future. The feeling I get is the fans will fall in love with this team. Right now, there isn't much to be excited about. But people will love the way this team competes. And once Vladdy Jr comes up people will begin to pay attention. This is the right thing to do with the rebuild. It's good to go young.
Benfica lost to Sporting in the Portuguese Cup semi-final. The championship continues to be wide open. Benfica didn't play their best, but they need to refocus on what's important this season. The important thing: championship.
