Week 25 Portuguese League Results

jotajota

Just when we thought the championship had calmed down, we get a shocker that tightens the race back up again!

Braga 1 Guimaraes 0

Boavista 1 Sporting 2

Portimonense 5 Nacional 1

Santa Clara 0 Aves 0

Setubal 0 Tondela 0

Benfica 2 Belenenses SAD 2

2. Porto 60

10. Rio Ave 29

11. Maritimo 27

12. Aves 26

------------------

16. Tondela 24

17. Chaves 21

18. Feirense 14

As mentioned previously, the title race at the top is all tied up! Neither team can afford to lose points from here on in. Benfica needs to take this home draw as a lesson, they need to play better than this and need to recover from this horrific defensive performance. Porto will not back down, just as expected. Braga and Sporting are not too too far behind either, but the way both of those teams are playing, don't expect them to come into contention.

The race at the bottom remains about the same. Maritimo took a big three points at home against Moreirense. Boavista, Nacional and Aves only have a two point gap above relegation. A Jose Mota-led Chaves needs to really change the dynamic of this fight. Two teams possibly being relegated from this pack will really put the pressure on the team. Nacional, Setubal and Tondela are three teams who are not performing up to par, especially Nacional away from home.

We shall see where things go from here. The battle at the bottom will certainly affect the battle at the top with the remaining games.
